Inside Number 36 is a tiny jewel: The Roxy – a 34-seat art deco miniature cinema complete with original seats from Bristol’s Colson Hall, a 1950’s cocktail bar and a tiny foyer with a box office.
We believe it is Britain’s smallest working cinema!
We installed it in 2007 as a volunteer-run not for profit community facility and we’ve been serving the people of the Cheddar Valley in Somerset and beyond with an accessible, affordable and intimate venue for film and other arts in rural Somerset.
This hospitality is extended to you when you rent the house, and you get exclusive access to it for the Saturdays of your weekend, or for a whole weekday. We’d discuss what would suit you best when discussing your idea (or just call and have a chat – there’s no obligation to book.
There is no extra cost for the cinema. You can choose films from our extensive film library, bring your own DVDs and Bluerays, or project a film of your own on the system from your laptop*. It also connects to games consoles. A great central feature of a very fine stay – people have been known to run their own mini film festivals!
*We recommend using DVD or Blueray – and cannot guarantee the success of live streaming.
